We all have a secret door…

We all have a secret door.

Behind it: lived moments that shaped us.
Hardship.
Hurt.
Joy.
Electric moments.

Not ordinary.
Not something to perform.

Just what happened.
What you lived through.
What you survived.
What you loved.

The strange thing is: we often think good painting comes from escaping all that.
From being “above it.”
From staying tasteful and controlled.

Making pretty and forget life… and in a way it is… but there is one aspect that is even more powerful.

Your stories, emotions and passion, moments of joy or hurt…

That is all behind that secret door. Hidden as if it didn’t happen. It’s even helpful this way.

We even feel better that it’s there. Safe. Guarded.

That’s why returning can feel so awkward, strange or even highly personal….
Not because you lost access to the door.
Because you stopped opening the door.

Here is why you should open the secret door ….

Here’s the 2-minute studio note I recorded for you.

One question: What is one moment you’ve lived that you rarely let near your work?

Leave one sentence. I read them.
